I usually try to share solutions on this blog, but sometimes I just feel dumb and need some help. I've searched all over for this one, but I know some wicked smart people read this blog, so maybe they can help me. So I am rendering some points in OpenGL ES on the iPhone and want [...] (translate)

Inspiration comes from the strangest sources. In my case, the way the font Myriad Pro Black looked with drop shadow on a Flex Application Control Bar made me want to design and develop a full fledged text based Flex application2. Being bombarded with Flex related questions all the time, a Q & A site for the flex and flash community seemed a logical choice. Adobe Inspire and stackoverflow.com heavily inspired me and I wanted to see for myself how my attempt at implementing a Q & A site in Flex would look like. The result is sandboxviolation.appspot.com - a site built in Flex (translate)

I’ve been thinking about Amazon S3 for a while.  I had a moderatly interesting idea for a business model around online backup.  Imagine if backing up your computer cost you nothing.  But retrieving those backups had a substantial price.  Say, maybe $10 a gig.  So if you had 50 gig of storage, some company would [...] (translate)

Fellow ARc90’er Avi and I were chatting up the goodness of physics-based puzzle games like the excellent World of Goo and Crayon Physics and it got me thinking: what’s so universally appealing about these types of games? I think the answer lies in how these games reinforce our hard-wired logic about the physical world. From our earliest days on this earth, we start to sort out how objects in the real world interact. Some pretty basic ground rules are laid down and reinforced throughout our lives. Things like gravity and the various laws of our physical world are completely hard-wired (translate)

I was listening to the Weekly RIA Round Up last night while I was running and they mentioned Zend Amf Session support. That was pretty cool to “hear” about something that I was working on rather than a tweet or email. Thanks David Tucker for the shout out! If you are not listening to some [...] (translate)

Tomorrow I'll be presenting to the Domain Driven Design group in New York. The focus will be on the synergies between DDD and Domain Specific Modeling/Code Generation. DDD provides a solid framework for developing languages (they call them Ubiquitous Languages), and with DDD the Movie, it's clear that Eric Evans, Vlad Gitlevich et al are also bringing an appreciation of "soft skills" that has long been missing from developer education/training. At the same time, Domain Specific Modeling has a lot to say about the practicalities of implementing executable domain languages (they call them Domain Specific Languages). Eric is very clear (translate)
